Houston veteran surprised by mortgage-free home in Fulshear

The family of a Houston veteran and Purple Heart recipient received the surprise of a lifetime last week when they received a brand new mortgage-free home as a gift.

Army Spc. Fernando DelPozo Jr. and his family thought they were meeting with Operation Finally Home, a nonprofit that helps provide housing for veterans, and Highland Homes to discuss next steps with their application. Instead, they were greeted by a bevy of smiling faces including the Houston Texans Cheerleaders, TORO and Houston Texans legend Moran Norris who informed the family that they had been chosen to receive a mortgage-free home in the Jordan Ranch subdivision of Fulshear, according to a statement.
