What started as a richly decorated house has turned into a Christmas village. New Jersey’s famous “Griswold House”, which paid homage to the movie “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”, with cousin Eddie’s camper van, has moved and has grown.
As we told you in August, Steve Harbaugh, who turned his Mickleton house into a vacation attraction every year, decided the event had outgrown his suburban street, so he decided to build a village of Whole Christmas. As construction continues, a smooth opening is slated for Dec. 1, according to NJ.com.
Even with the change of address and scale, the mission remains the same: to collect toys and donations to help families in need. Their charity, Harbaugh House, has raised over 12,000 toys and $ 50,000 in donations.
The new Harbaugh Village is located in a field in Mullica Hill and when completed will feature all kinds of entertainment including an ice rink, fire pits, food trucks, heated igloos, a carousel, a toy store and a tent. event for this year which will be replaced by a more permanent barn in the future.
There will also be a fully decorated house with the family trickster (with an oversized Christmas tree tied on top) and the motorhome.
This year, instead of filling the motorhome with toys, Harbaugh hopes to fill the whole house. He hopes to secure sponsorship for some of the attractions, including a performance stage and the house itself.
Contrary to the road nature of the house in years past, the new village will have 500 permanent parking spaces, so he hopes to avoid any traffic problems. Looks like this will be an amazing place!
