Texas ranked among best states for small homes


Texas was ranked the second best state for mini-homes in a recent survey by financial services company IPX1031.

The metrics used by IPX1031 to identify the best states for a tiny living include the average cost of a tiny house in each state, the cost of living index, median income, annual average temperatures, and park coverage. Of course, the report took into consideration the regulations and the legality of small houses and excluded states with strict laws against building and living in a small house all year round.

“Sure, everything might be bigger in Texas, but that doesn’t mean your house has to be” the report reads. “With an average mini-home cost of $ 48,120 and a median income of $ 64,034, you can get the most for your money when it comes to living in Texas.”

According to the results, Texas is attractive for small homes because of its decent 0.95% park coverage, mild average temperatures of 66.0 ° F, and the relatively low average cost of small homes of $ 48,120.

In the overall standings, the State of Georgia took first place. The next seven places on the list went to Texas, Kansas, Florida, California, New Hampshire, Colorado and Michigan.

In recent years, the demand for mini-homes and offices has increased. The trend is being fueled by the COVID-19 pandemic, which is making the flexibility and affordability of tiny life more attractive to investors.

Speaking of affordability, most small homes cost between $ 30,000 and $ 60,000, making them an ideal option for conservative buyers or those struggling to refinance their mortgage. Among the states on the list, Mississippi had the lowest price for small properties, averaging $ 30,000, while Hawaii was the most expensive with an average price of $ 93,333.
